Illustrated film magazine Ornament has opened pre-orders for its new eleventh issue. His subject was thrillers, from Hitchcock to Fincher. “We could have dedicated a separate issue to David Fincher and Alfred Hitchcock, but we came up with a more exciting idea: uniting two masters of suspense under one cover and looking at their work from a different distance,” admitted the Ornament team.
In this issue, the authors explore the influence of the events of the 20th century on the thriller and the development of the genre’s techniques, and also communicate through the present with the past and vice versa. “As we were working on the subject, we realized how profound modern films are if you look at them through the prism of old cinema, and how interesting old cinema becomes if you look at them through the prism of modern cinema,” concluded the creators of the number.
