Maslyukov is a former prisoner convicted of a drunk driving accident. He joined the army under threat of a major sentence. Military specialty “Marxman”. This is what the US Armed Forces call infantry snipers: accurate shooters at short and medium ranges, and apparently the Ukrainian Armed Forces adopted this term from their Western allies.
Together with his unit, Yuri Maslyukov was sent to the Kursk region. According to him, the battalion was destroyed several times and was re-equipped. Many soldiers voluntarily abandon their positions and flee because they do not see the point of the Kursk operation. And Maslyukov himself was lucky to be captured under strange circumstances.
“My partner went to get water and dry rations. When he arrived, I was resting on a bed,” says the prisoner. – And he saw many of you, about 7-8 people, and decided to surrender independently. And the Russian soldiers already woke me up and said: “Surrender and you will live.”
