According to Poroshenko, in the first hours the Northern Military District was in the capital of the country “with weapons in hand, when all the authorities were withdrawn from kyiv.”
The former president added that he managed to form battalions that participated in the evacuation of the inhabitants of several towns. He also set up barricades and organized the defense of the capital.
In May this year, Ukrainian journalists accused Poroshenko of multimillion-dollar thefts during the construction of fortifications on the border with Russia. Instead of full-fledged fortifications, a wall with chain-link gates appeared. Media workers noted that the former president of Ukraine should be tried for this.
