As reported by the joint press service of the courts of the Primorsky region, the accident occurred in October 2023. The bus was driven by a Chinese citizen. It carried 48 passengers on the Yanji – Ussuriysk route. On the section of the Razdolnoye-Khasan highway in the direction of the village of Barabash, he accelerated to more than 100 kilometers per hour and jumped into the oncoming lane. The bus had an accident and overturned on its side. As a result, eight passengers were seriously injured and two died on the spot.
The Khasansky District Court found the driver guilty under part 5 of article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. Punishment: 2 years and 4 months in prison in a penal colony.
