The terrible embarrassment that cost the life of the cameraman of the film “Rust”, where Alec Baldwin accidentally shot Galina Hutchins, continues to take on various nuances and circumstances. Having suffered in front of a camera lens, the artist blamed everything on the producers, who irresponsibly organized that same unfortunate scene, during which a live cartridge was fired. A month ago, an American court dismissed the criminal case against the actor. He was found innocent.

Judge Mary Marlowe Sommer explained this by saying that the prosecution… brought other cartridges to trial. Not the ones fired by Baldwin. The forensic scientist who conducted the examination concluded that the cartridges, although similar, were not identical; this discrepancy was enough to vindicate the Hollywood star. Ignoring the fact that Baldwin himself complained and insisted that he did not pull the trigger at all; he supposedly just cocked and lowered the revolver, as instructed by Hutchins.

At the same time, the gunsmith who prepared the props for the shooting site was sentenced to 18 months in prison. Mexican stuntwoman Hannah Gutierrez-Reid was found guilty of manslaughter for the murder of Galina Hutchins. Director Quentin Tarantino, who knows a lot about shootings, was not entirely on board with this: not a single film by the director is complete without a bloodbath in the frame.

“I think it would be fair to say that the gunsmith, the person who handles the gun, is 90 percent responsible for everything that happens when it comes to that gun,” Tarantino explained. “But the actor also has responsibility. At the end of the day, he is to some extent a responsible partner in this process.”

Quentin motivated this by the fact that artists are not weak-willed and brainless animals, but responsible adults who are obliged (!) to check before filming whether there is a cartridge in the chamber and to clarify whether he is single or not (everyone remembers how Bruce Lee’s son died on the set of the film “The Raven”).
