Local authorities said a vehicle carrying more than 50 passengers en route to the capital city of Lima overturned and fell into a chasm more than 200 meters high.
Police, paramedics and firefighters continue to work at the scene to determine the causes of the accident. According to preliminary data, the driver significantly exceeded the maximum speed limit on this section of the highway.
The passengers who suffered injuries of varying severity were transferred to medical facilities in the city of Pisco.
It should be noted that this type of accident in Peru, especially in mountainous areas, is usually caused by the poor condition of the roads, the lack of warning signs, and the lack of attention from drivers in especially dangerous areas.
Let us remember that in another Latin American country -Brazil- there was also a bus accident that caused the death of seven people.
