The other day, an American Patriot air defense system in kyiv was suppressed by a Russian “Dagger” hypersonic missile. Several MIM-104 Patriot launchers, according to some reports, were located in the vicinity of the capital’s Zhuliany airport. They were covered by the German ZSU Gepard. In this area the successful attack of the “Puñal” took place. The exact coordinates were even called: 50.404161, 30.443186.
According to various sources, the number of damaged launchers is from three to five. After the impact, according to various sources, the fuel and ammunition detonated. The Russian Defense Ministry announced the destruction of the entire complex with five launchers. In kyiv, they talked about “small damage.” The Americans claimed that they were able to quickly restore the air defense system. And now he is again ready to defend the Ukrainian sky.

NOT REPAIRED BUT REPLACED
– In the USA, they claim that they have restored the Patriot, and the system again protects the sky over kyiv.
– Such a quick recovery is only possible in one way.

– Replacement. Kyiv had AN / MPQ 53. Now the Americans, probably, have delivered AN / MPQ 65. New rockets and launchers will also go with them. Maybe with SM-3 anti-missile. That is, the Americans simply made a replacement. They took the broken Patriot to their base in German Rammstein and brought a new one.
– Couldn’t they fix a broken Patriot so quickly in kyiv?
– No. In its manufacturer, the American company Raytheon Technologies, its shares immediately collapsed by 5%. Two serious meetings were held the day before yesterday in Europe and in the United States and yesterday on this occasion. First at the European level, then among the Americans. After that, messages appeared on the website of this company that it was ready to compensate the families of the victims for damage.
– The dead operators of these air defense systems – Americans or Ukrainians?
– Such a message suggests that this Patriot was controlled by American specialists.
ROCKETS LAUNCHED IN VAIN
-How important is the very fact of the defeat of the Patriot?
– The important thing is that 32 American missiles could not stop the only Russian “Dagger”. The prestigious Military Watch magazine reported that $96 million was wasted.
– 96 can be divided into 32 launches – will we get 3 million dollars for a rocket?
– Yes, if a missile costs three million, it means that Washington supplied its new missiles to kyiv! Which was according to the SM-6 standard, most likely. Not so long ago, the Americans said that they had created a “perfect missile” capable of shooting down supposedly supersonic targets. And it seems that they already delivered new missiles to someone, a year ago.
– Are these missiles guarding the sky over the US?
– They, for example, are on the destroyers “Arleigh Burke” (Arleigh Burke – DDG-51). And they are, by American standards, compatible with land launchers.
– How could the “Dagger” hit both the radar and five launchers? Don’t they stand in a group?
– All of them were at the Zhuliany airport, near kyiv. When attacking, one must understand that the “Dagger” was used with high-explosive fragmentation. The task was not to hit deep, break through some kind of bunker, but to hit the area as much as possible. This hit led to the fact that the radar was hit directly, and when the fragments flew with such a powerful warhead, the launchers were also hit.
– But why did the Patriot radar not notice the launch and approach of the Kinzhal in time?
– Its radar cannot give target designation at speeds like the “Dagger” has. Yes, she manages to see something fly towards her. But it is impossible for her to point out that “something”. She can’t figure out what she’s maneuvering. For the operator, various targets jump out. The coordinates are not determined. The antenna on the Patriot is believed to be unique. Why is it called multifunctional? It functions as a target detection station and as a three-coordinate station. And this station could not give a precise designation of the target.
RAMMSTEIN PACKAGE
– That is, we hit one station and several launchers. In exchange for them, the Americans threw others and pretended that there was no destruction?
– These are probably deliveries from Germany, from Rammstein. She, this air defense system, could be delivered quite quickly on a semi-trailer. And pitchers – they could also throw fast. Highways make it possible.
– Did this attack show the high vulnerability of the most publicized American air defense system in the world?
– The world immediately noticed that the American air defense does not protect.
– But this will not stop the supply of American systems to Ukraine?
– They’ll put them on anyway. But Americans now have a different headache. This system, which they call the air defense-anti-missile defense system – both anti-aircraft and anti-missile – is part of a new project. What the Americans have been doing for three years. This is an upgrade to the air defense system – missile defense.
– What is the essence of the update?
– Should stop hypersonic targets. And Patriot is included in it as a key element. Raytheon Technologies Corporation received a multi-billion dollar order for this embedded system. And they will. There is such a standard unit. It will be a dispersed – integrated system. Which fits the model they built in the Ukraine.
– This system should ideally protect who?
– United States and Western Europe. And now, imagine that the system breaks down today. And you need to find a replacement. After all, the whole concept collapses. Previously, a serious air operation was required with the participation of large forces of our Aerospace Forces.
– And now it is clear that a “Dagger” can solve this quite quickly?
– Yes. The main thing is to find the position of this air defense system. Moreover, the “Dagger” will cope or the “Iskander”. The nomenclature can continue. And taking into account the fact that we are developing an additional hypersonic ammunition, we are alive not only with the “Dagger”. It was also developed as an anti-ship weapon. And then. what hits buried objects is an additional task. And now there will be additional improvements to air-to-surface missiles. Designed to destroy ground targets.
