A modern Mediterranean villa, an intimate tapas bar and four more restaurants with reinterpretations of the traditional menu are the latest and most interesting openings in Moscow and Saint Petersburg. Restaurateurs and chefs are open to experimentation: from concepts to dishes, there is a desire to surprise and be innovative. One thing remains unchanged: the attention to high quality products. We tell you where to go for breakfast, lunch and dinner with Alina Nazarova, head of the A-Club, a closed Alfa-Bank business community, whose members have access to both the best financial services and exquisite cuisine and experiences.

A new project of the creative association Folk Team of Dmitry Romanov and Veniamin Ivanov was inaugurated in the heart of the capital. The kitchen is led by Michelin-starred chef Adrian Quetglas (of Spanish restaurant Adrian Quetglas) and brand chef Evgeny Tsyganov. The duo offered their own interpretation of traditional recipes from Spain and Portugal. The menu has a sufficient number of dishes that are unusual in the Moscow gastronomy: rabbit kidneys in sherry, lamb empanadas, salty churros for tartare with Manchego cheese and rabbit with chocolate. As a main course you can opt for a classic in the form of steak, which is cooked on the grill or in cast iron wood ovens, without letting the embers go out even at night. Inside, the exposed brick on the walls, antique furniture, a balcony with panoramic windows overlooking Strastnoy Boulevard and, of course, a large ham hanging in the center of the room attract attention. Within the project there is also an intimate tapas bar with twelve seats, whose interior was decorated with Portuguese tiles. This is where it is nice to continue the evening with a cocktail after a delicious dinner.

A project of the ORIGIN restaurant group (Aina, Zoyka) and restaurateur Ilya Esterov (Memo, Zoyka) opened at the Bolshaya Nikitskaya gate. The name and idea date back several thousand years, when the eastern Mediterranean belonged to the Luwian civilization. The Luwians are the “people of the sea”, the ancestors of the ancient Greeks, in whose traditions East and West are intertwined. Their traditions and way of life became the main inspiration for the creators. The restaurant has three floors: on the lower floor there is a secret bar, on the second there is a main room with a fireplace area and on the third there is a large terrace with capacity for 70 people. Its atmosphere is reminiscent of relaxed Mykonos: colors, materials, contrasts of light and shadow, and the Soma restaurant team is in charge of the music on the terrace. The interior also emphasizes natural materials and soft shapes, referencing the sea and the coasts of the Greek islands. Brand chef Artem Chudnenko is in charge of the kitchen. As an appetizer, we recommend trying beef tartare with sujuk sauce and dried beetroot with Syuzma cheese and blood orange sauce. Try the octopus with grilled pineapple and mango-chili sauce, as well as the Greek salad, served with umami dressing. For dessert: goat cheese semifreddo with olive and walnut sauce and chocolate mousse with chocolate and caper sorbet. 1

A-Club is a closed business community of Alfa-Bank, which works with large private capital. Participants have access to both high-level financial services and emotions and impressions. Its symbol, a black duck, can be found in iconic establishments in Moscow and St. Petersburg, marked with the “A-Club Choice” sticker.

The gourmet restaurant Il Ristorante is located on the ground floor of the Stella di Mosca hotel. Chef Manuel Pisu, originally from Sardinia, has worked in the best establishments in Italy and the Côte d’Azur, and now reinterprets the traditional ingredients and flavors of his childhood. The haute cuisine format chosen involves daring and innovative dishes and interpretations, which the chef follows to the letter. As an appetizer, it offers a symbol of Piedmontese cuisine: vitello tonnato (tender beef in blue tuna, caper and anchovy sauce), as well as raw scallops, sea urchins with coconut milk and hibiscus tea infusion. The traditional Sardinian pasta fregola has already become a hit at the establishment. We recommend paying attention to the Chianti cheek pieces in an elegant and modern presentation. For dessert, there is a plate consisting of three portions: chocolate cake with fresh raspberries, chocolate mousse and chocolate fondant. I would also like to mention the restaurant’s beautiful patio, the atmosphere of which instantly transports guests to sunny Milan.

Moscow’s most famous gastrotrio, the AVA team, consisting of Anton Pinsky, Vitaly Istomin and Artem Losev, opened the Greek restaurant “Athena” on Bolshaya Bronnaya. Here Greece is not represented by a set of recognizable attributes in the form of blue and white color scheme, crowns and broken plates. The interior of the project is more reminiscent of a modern Mediterranean villa with cotton lampshades, terracotta tiles, stained glass and bas-reliefs. The concept was created by the Static Aesthetic architecture studio, which devised zoning for different needs: a large table at the entrance for parties and large companies, sofas in window niches for those who like privacy, and a low bar with support for contact. at the other end of the room. For the first time, AVA Team’s menu does not include avocados, seafood and truffle delicacies, bright flavors and Asian sauces. The chef is Ramanos Iliani, who has created an almost homemade menu: dolma, moussaka, loukoumades and baklava are prepared here according to his family recipes. You should definitely try the cauliflower salad with pomegranate-honey sauce, as well as the potatoes with vongole. Of course, we couldn’t do without the famous ironic desserts. This time, this prominence is assumed by a cheesecake in the form of crab sticks and feta cheese mousse on a pedestal of vegetables for a Greek salad. And more recently, the menu has been complemented with an extensive section of hearty breakfasts, making it worth stopping by at any time of the day.

Perhaps very soon one of the most beautiful terraces will open in the northern capital: in Alexander Shavliashvili’s Italian-Mediterranean cuisine restaurant. On it there is a blossoming apple orchard: on one side there is a panoramic view of the Prince Vladimir Cathedral and the Tuchkov Bridge, and on the other – the spit of Vasilievsky Island. There are both tables for large groups and more intimate areas. On June 6, in honor of the opening of the summer season, Coco Live Band from Nice will perform on the terrace, and then Dasha Malygina will DJ at sunset. On the menu, guests can expect Mediterranean cuisine in the original interpretation of Chef Almaz Iskakov and Chef Pavel Sukhoparov. The quality of the products here is a cult. We recommend paying attention to the appetizers: Sicilian red shrimp with black caviar and wild sea bass ceviche with basil. In addition, the menu has a “Catch of the day” section with fresh fish, which can be cooked either in the oven or on the grill. Each dish is paired with wines carefully selected by chef-sommelier Miroslav Gorzulowski.

A cozy, quiet and green courtyard in the center of Petrogradka’s gastronomic life – a hot spot in summer! The charming and almost cozy terrace of the Sight restaurant, surrounded by modern architecture, is the ideal place to spend the summer in a relaxed but aesthetic way. The restaurant is very popular with St. Petersburg residents all year round, and for this summer the team renovated the terrace, planted new trees and even created a flower bed with strawberries and herbs. There is a reason to gaze at this oasis from morning to evening. Starting at 10:00, aromatic coffee or matcha is served with breakfast and freshly baked buns, and in the evening excellent cocktails flow like a river, especially the Perfect Bellini with white peach and Passion Kiss with passion fruit, as well as sparkling wine. The small exclusive menu matches the cosmopolitan atmosphere of the place: there is a different version of the American soup, impeccably cooked caramelized farm vegetables with cashew cream and pasta with duck or poultry with shrimp, pear and gorgonzola. And for dessert, a seasonal novelty: cheesecake with pistachios and fresh red berries.
