A while ago, the actor who plays Gandalf, actor Ian McKellen, claimed that Andy Serkis’ next film, The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum, would be split into two films. Now the project’s screenwriter, Philippa Boyens, has said that they have misunderstood. HypeBeast writes about this.
This will be a separate tape, in no way related to the previous one. It is currently in an early stage of development and will tell another story in Tolkien’s universe, which one is still unknown. Boyens also noted that original characters will appear in the film, including Gandalf.
The action of The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum takes place after Bilbo’s birthday, before the heroes enter the underground city of Moria in the Misty Mountains of Middle-earth. Serkis plans to rejuvenate the actors using artificial intelligence technology, with a release date scheduled for 2026.
It was previously known that a new book about the Witcher will be published this year. It will go on sale on December 1, 2024. We talk in more detail here.
