A new group has appeared in the Kaluga region – Rossiyskaya Gazeta

Date: September 14, 2024 Time: 00:24:31

The cluster unites six companies. The main participant is the Obninsk Filters Group of Companies. As explained by Pavel Grankov, General Director of the Agency for Innovative Development of the Kaluga Region, the formation of a cluster will allow companies to receive government support of up to 150 million rubles, as well as attract investments for implementing innovative and import-substituting projects.

– Sterilizing filters are new products for the domestic industry. They are in demand in pharmaceuticals and biotechnology. Kaluga companies have developed unique solutions and are producing pilot batches. Participation in the cluster will help boost industrial production volumes and bring new products to the market, Grankov explained. – There are already 20 participants in the Kaluga pharmaceutical cluster who have expressed interest in these products.

The pharmaceutical cluster of the Kaluga region includes about 70 companies. In the first half of the year, the production of medicines in the region, according to the governor, showed an increase of 128 percent. In addition, a new vector of development has emerged – the production of radiopharmaceuticals intended to effectively combat cancer. The key investor in this case is Rosatom. Rosatom scientific organizations in the Kaluga region already supply the Russian market with microsources based on iodine-125, used in the treatment of cancer. Moreover, these products are 30 percent cheaper than their foreign counterparts; experts assure that with an increase in production volumes in Obninsk, they can completely replace foreign products.

In addition, the third site of the Kaluga SEZ in the Babyninsky district is planned to be fully dedicated to pharmaceutical production. This is expected to be one of the largest pharmaceutical clusters in the Central Federal District. The region is investing in infrastructure for this project. Three Russian companies (Pharmasintez-Kaluga LLC, B-Pharm Biotech LLC, Astrapharm Kaluga LLC) have confirmed their readiness to set up enterprises there. The expansion of the SEZ will attract 17 billion rubles and create more than two thousand high-tech jobs.

– Our region’s cluster policy is recognized as one of the most successful in the country. We are working on creating new clusters. Including construction materials, unmanned aerial systems. We see a great interest from investors in cooperation,” said Vladislav Shapsha.
