A record soybean harvest is expected in the Amur region this year – Rossiyskaya Gazeta

This was announced at the session “New oil: investment potential of the agricultural sector of the Far Eastern region” of the Eastern Economic Forum, held in Vladivostok, Oleg Turkov, Minister of Agriculture of the Amur Region.

– Last year we grew 1.6 million tons. This year we plan to receive 1.7 million. In general, our plan is between 2 and 2.2 million tons,” Turkov said.

Let us remember that the harvest of more than 1.6 million tons of soybeans in 2022 was a record.

The region has good processing capacity.

“We have three factories, today we process 550 thousand tons in the Amur region and we set out to process all the soybeans,” said the minister.

At the same time, there is a labor shortage in the region.

“But we are solving this problem,” Oleg Turkov stressed. – In addition, I can say that in our Amur region for five years now, by decision of the governor, the use of foreign labor in agriculture has been completely prohibited and [труда] citizens who can work under patents. This is our principled position.

According to Turkov, “in general, this works in the Amur region”: not a single enterprise has been stopped and not a single hectare of land has been abandoned.

On September 10, the VIII Eastern Economic Forum opened in Vladivostok. The summit will take place on the campus of the Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) under the theme “Towards cooperation, peace and prosperity.”
