A real war has broken out between the parents of the students, although the battles take place mainly on social networks. The truth, as always, is somewhere in between.
– There are seven children of immigrants in our class and they don’t speak any Russian! The school management does not respond to this. In addition, they offered us to learn the Uzbek language,” Irina, the mother of one of the students, wrote in her heart.
The last statement caused a chain reaction: the news was immediately picked up by the regional media and a wave of indignation fell on the school management. However, in reality, the director’s phrase, as often happens on the Internet, was taken out of context. This is confirmed by other parents who, in conversation with an RG correspondent, asked to remain anonymous. According to them, no one was forced to learn Uzbek. It could be just a couple of words in the immigrant children’s native language, to make it easier for them to join the team, find new friends and socialize.
The inspections carried out at the school also did not confirm the fact of the call to learn a foreign language. This was reported by the Ministry of Education of the Kaliningrad region in response to a request from RG.
– It was found that the school management and teachers did not in any way encourage students or their parents to take appropriate measures. At the same time, seven foreign children study in the class, five of whom have poor command of the Russian language. Children of foreign citizens are accepted for study in full compliance with the current legislation on education,” commented the Minister of Education of the region, Svetlana Truseneva. – Of course, it is necessary to change the situation, so the school has already provided additional classes for the children.
The experts also conducted a psychological study. Their results showed that the children in the class communicate well with each other, are friends, and the rights of Russian speakers are not violated. But it is impossible to completely avoid conflict situations in the context of a clash of languages and cultures. Therefore, it is important to pay special attention to the adaptation of immigrant children. The Ministry of Education of the Kaliningrad Region added that adequate support measures are already in place at the regional level.
The first of them is linguistic. In all schools in the region, children of immigrants can learn Russian as a foreign language, regardless of their level of proficiency. For this purpose, a special resource center was opened in Kant IKBFU, which at the same time trains specialists and provides methodological support to schools.

In mid-September, information emerged that the Ministry of Education allegedly recommended that schools admit no more than three children of foreign citizens who do not speak Russian well in one class. Lawyers point out that one cannot speak of any educational “selection” within the framework of current legislation. Today, the law allows immigrants to bring their families to the country. Therefore, if a foreign citizen is legally on the territory of our country, then it is impossible to refuse to admit his child to school.
