In the museum’s collection there is a steel box that serves as an original pedestal for the spectacular presentation of the medallion.

The Congress was held in Vienna under the leadership of the victorious countries: the Russian Empire, Prussia, Austria and Great Britain.

On 15 September 1815, Empress Elizabeth Alekseevna, Tsarevich Konstantin and Grand Duchesses Maria and Catherine arrived in Vienna with their ladies-in-waiting.

In memory of the visit of the imperial persons, a special medallion was issued at the Vienna Mint. It depicted Emperor Alexander I in a general’s uniform and laurel wreath and Empress Elizabeth Alekseevna. The rarity was minted in a limited edition.

The museum’s collection contains a steel box that serves as an original pedestal for the spectacular presentation of the medallion. It was first produced in the mid-19th century in Tula.
