The crimes were committed in 2021. Balaeva, along with her deputy and four employees, received money from cafe owners for not carrying out inspections at their establishments and, if there were violations, “turning a blind eye.”
“If violations were detected, Balaeva instructed his subordinates to include false information in the reports, thereby concealing these violations,” the regional court’s press service said.
At the meeting, the former head of the Rospotrebnadzor department for the Krasnodar Territory did not admit her guilt, but all the accused were found guilty. Marina Balaeva herself was sentenced to 8 years and 8 months in a general regime colony, as well as a fine of three million rubles. Irina Tverezovskaya also received a real sentence – seven years in prison and a fine of 300 thousand.
The remaining defendants received suspended sentences ranging from 7 to 7.5 years. No fines, but deprivation of the opportunity to hold public office for several years.
The court forcibly confiscated the money received as bribes and turned it into state property.
It was previously reported that in the spring of 2021, Balaeva was suspected of receiving a bribe worth 150 thousand rubles directly at her office. During a search of her home, about 11 million rubles and a lot of jewelry were found. The piece was hidden in a safe, which investigators had to cut into pieces.
