A 21-year-old city woman contacted police with a statement about a large sum of money going missing. She discovered her disappearance shortly after a friend who had come to visit her left. There were only 400,000 rubles left in the briefcase in the closet; more than a million were missing.
Investigators established the friend’s participation in the theft of money. The girl admitted that she hid the package with a million dollars under a tree in the yard of the house. The bills remained there for about a day.
A criminal case has been initiated under Part 4 of Article 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Theft”. The maximum punishment that threatens a woman from Khabarovsk, greedy for other people’s money, is ten years in prison.
