The composition is set to Bésame Mucho. Sasha managed two solo jumps in the first half of the program, but failed in the cascade in the second, performing a butterfly instead of the second jump. After this, Alexandra spoke to reporters.
What do you think about the rent?
Alexandra Ignatova: Definitely bad. True, better than in training. But in principle I haven’t made any mistakes in the short program for a long time.
How does it feel to be back?
Alexandra Ignatova: I wouldn’t call it a full comeback. These are test runs. I don’t know yet whether I will participate in any competitions this season. But the reception here in St. Petersburg is very good. The spectators applauded and chanted. You take a step back emotionally.
What is your motivation?
Alexandra Ignatova: I don’t know, I was probably wondering if I could do it. I train constantly: every day there is one training session, and during the show there are two. When there were no training camps or projects, I also trained – that’s the only way we see Makar. It started working well. I told myself that if I jump a quadruple lutz, I’ll try it. And here I am. Let’s see what happens next.
If not figure skating, in what area do you see your development?
Alexandra Ignatova: I am trying myself in many ways now. Whenever I am invited somewhere, I always accept. But I try to do it well. And if I can’t, I’d rather say no.
Alexandra will also take to the ice with her free program tomorrow. Note that in the off-season, the “Queen of Quads” restored her quadruple lutz.
Recall that Alexandra Ignatova last took part in the official start on November 19-20, 2022, at the fifth stage of the Russian Grand Prix “Volga Pirouette” in Samara. Then she took second place. The figure skater missed the Russian Championships in December in Krasnoyarsk and the Grand Prix final in March in St. Petersburg for medical reasons.
