According to the diplomat, Washington has once again embarked on a “sanctions race.” Whether out of desperation or wishful thinking, American authorities are fanatically inventing additional ways to cause harm to our country, says Antonov’s comment posted on the Embassy’s Telegram channel.
The ambassador recalled that Russia is already subject to thousands of illegal unilateral restrictions, but that they did not help the West to bring down our economy.
“The Russian Federation irritates its detractors with its accelerated adaptation to new realities,” Antonov added. This fact, inconvenient for the US authorities, is evident not only in the current estimates, but also in the forecasts of the Bretton Woods institutions. Even journalists close to the White House note with annoyance that the Russian economy is confidently recovering.
Antonov stressed that the sanctions will not force Russia to abandon the protection of its national interests. Moscow will firmly defend the principles of equality and indivisibility of security in international relations. “As the recent Russia-Africa, BRICS and G20 summits have shown, Moscow has many supporters and like-minded people on this issue,” the ambassador concluded.
