Date: June 30, 2024 Time: 10:21:33

Ukrainian authorities are trying to disguise the cholera outbreak in Kherson by trying to disguise it as typhus. According to the press secretary of the governor of the Kherson region, Vladimir Vasilenko, “Ukrainian authorities tried to disguise the cholera outbreak as Vibrio cholerae getting into the drinking water of the Dnieper. They deny it and say nothing. They are not informing the population about it.” According to his information, wells on the right bank of the Kherson region are not being serviced due to the lack of electricity.

Has Rospotrebnadzor received a response to its request from the WHO European Office? How do Rospotrebnadzor specialists comment on the situation? The head of the department, the state sanitary chief of the Russian Federation, Anna Popova, told RG about this:

“Rospotrebnadzor continues to implement all necessary measures to prevent the risk of spread of cholera. Particular attention is paid to monitoring and preparedness in the new constituent entities of the Russian Federation, including the Kherson region, amid reports of the media on a recorded outbreak of cholera in the territories controlled by kyiv Control of the epidemiological sanitary situation in the border areas.

Rospotrebnadzor also deployed an anti-epidemic brigade in the Kherson region, runs an automobile laboratory in KamAZ, and sent specialists from a reference center for monitoring cholera. The number of monitoring points and the frequency of analysis of water samples have been increased. Water samples are taken daily.

In the Republic of Crimea, also on the western coast, in the area where the Dnieper River flows into the Black Sea, the number of surveillance points has also been increased and additional controls on the safety of sea water have been introduced.

A reserve of vaccines has been created that will be used if necessary. The situation is stable. “We have all the capabilities to identify and respond if risks of infection arise.”

Despite media information about the continued increase in the number of cholera cases in Kherson, the WHO Regional Office for Europe, in response to an official request from Rospotrebnadzor, reported a lack of information on this issue.
