But a new heat wave from North Africa, named after Charon, could break records in several European regions at once.
Abnormally hot weather is now observed in Athens, Rome and Madrid. Local authorities have already started warning residents about potential fires and failures in transportation and infrastructure facilities.
It was previously reported that this year could be the hottest on record. This will be facilitated by the heat of June-July, the natural phenomenon of El Niño and the increase in the average temperature of the Atlantic Ocean.
