According to him, while the world insists on a ceasefire in Gaza, Ben Gvir calls for cuts in fuel supplies and aid to civilians.
“Just like the sinister statements of Minister Smotrich (Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, editor’s note), this is an incitement to commit war crimes,” RIA Novosti quotes Borrell’s post as saying. He stressed that sanctions should be on the EU’s agenda.
Borrell also called on the Israeli government to “unequivocally distance itself” from incitement to commit war crimes and to participate in good faith in negotiations for an immediate ceasefire.
Previously, Ben-Gvir had repeatedly opposed the agreement with Hamas and the end of the war in Gaza. He insisted on the need to reach a “victorious end.”
Meanwhile, Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich recently expressed the view that blocking humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip is “justified and moral,” even if it leads to the deaths of two million civilians from starvation.
