The declaration of the head of the republic with a parliamentary form of government goes against the official line of the pro-Western government of the country.
“Managers are trying with frantic force to convince us that by transferring military assistance (to Ukraine – ed.), they increase our security,” the president said, noting that the escalation of the conflict, in fact, poses a threat to everyone. Europe.
Radev urged politicians to “stop seeing the Bulgarian Armed Forces as a warehouse for the armed forces of a foreign army and start thinking soberly and objectively.”
The President accused the country’s government of not having its own opinion, insinuating the urgent solidarity of the Cabinet of Ministers with the position of the main NATO states.
“Is it really necessary for the big states to make statements (at the alliance summit – editor’s note) in Vilnius about the unacceptability of Ukraine’s accelerated entry into NATO, so that our managers finally change their approach?” the President emphasized.
Even before the alliance conference, Radev himself expressed a similar thesis, for which he was criticized by local Euro-Atlantists.
