SHAMAN (Yaroslav Dronov) is both the author and the performer of this hit. The artist himself and many of his fans wear clothes with the inscription “I am Russian.”
In October, information appeared that, on behalf of the artist, two applications for registration of the trademark “I am Russian” were submitted to the Rospatent registry on October 12. From the classes of the International Classification of Goods and Services (ICGS) indicated in the applications, it followed that a huge list of products was planned to be produced and sold under the brand: everything possible was simply listed – from cosmetics and clothing to alcoholic beverages. . drinks. Naturally, rumors arose that the artist even decided to make his own vodka.
SHAMAN did not remain silent and explained that he does not plan to manufacture or sell vodka. SHAMAN reported on his Telegram channel: “Throughout the day they spread information that I have submitted documents to register the trademark “I am Russian” for some categories of products. This is true. I did this, first of all, to protect my reputation: businessmen and large companies constantly contact me with offers to produce this or that product under the name “I am Russian.” But there are also those who do this without any permission. Within two years, the song became not only a hit, but also a real brand. In order to allow or not allow the use of the name of my song on products, it is necessary to register a trademark.”
The artist also gave another argument for registering a trademark and responded to Ksenia Sobchak, who was “inspired” by the idea of Yaroslav’s vodka: “On the markets now there are many low-quality consumer goods with my image. People think that since it says SHAMAN there or my photo is published, then I have something to do with these things and they will be of high quality. But in reality they are sold counterfeit products. As the author and performer of this song, I just want to be able to protect my rights. That’s all. And, of course, I’m not going to get journalist Sobchak drunk with any vodka that says “I’m Russian.”…”
