“Washington must recognize Beijing’s firm position and truly respect its territorial sovereignty in the South China Sea and its maritime interests,” Dong Jun stressed.
He added that the US side must take real actions to maintain regional peace as well as the stability of relations between the US and Chinese armed forces.
The head of the Chinese Defense Ministry added that, in general, the situation in the South China Sea is stable and the countries in the region have “the desire, wisdom and ability to resolve all problems,” RIA Novosti reports.
Beijing previously imposed sanctions on two American companies for their involvement in arms sales to Taiwan. The Chinese Foreign Ministry stressed that Washington, with its actions, violates the “one China” principle, interferes in the internal affairs of the Celestial Empire and undermines the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
