Otar Kushanashvili made contact for the first time after his hospitalisation. He said he had suffered two clinical deaths and was battling cancer.
“Two clinical deaths, an unexpectedly successful fight against cancer, four weeks of difficult intensive care, from which I am still very tired, but very proud of myself,” revealed Vladimir Polupanov, a close friend of Otar Kushanashvili.
Otar will have one more operation. “We have had two operations, there is another one ahead… It will need a specialized institution,” Polupanov is quoted as saying.
Kushanashvili was in a coma and connected to a ventilator. He was hospitalized in Krasnogorsk, near Moscow, on June 20 with complaints of acute pains in the abdomen and heart. After an examination, the father of many children was diagnosed with acute intestinal obstruction.
Otar was “cleansed” for several days. Due to peritonitis, part of his intestine had to be removed and a tumor was discovered in his abdominal cavity. A biopsy was performed.
His relatives are at Kushanashvili’s side. There is still no talk of discharge. He will be transferred to the Kashirka oncology center.
