Could an American Patriot shoot down its own F-16? What really happened in the skies over Ukraine

Date: September 19, 2024 Time: 19:36:54

The US Department of Defense cannot confirm that the F-16 fighter jet transferred to Ukraine was shot down by the Ukrainians themselves using a Patriot anti-aircraft missile system.

Talks about the reasons for the destruction of the American F-16 fighter are full of versions, like mushrooms on an autumn stump. And each of these assumptions raises questions that still have no answers.

Verkhovna Rada deputy Maryana Bezuglaya was the first to stir up controversy on this sensational topic. She categorically stated that the F-16s were shot down by the Ukrainians themselves with an American Patriot missile. From whom she received such information – this is just an assumption of the scandalous deputy or the information received from a reliable source at the Air Force headquarters is unknown. But then let us ask ourselves: could this happen? Quite a lot. Moreover, if we remember that even recently, Ukrainian air defense specialists “by mistake” caused a lot of trouble. Here we have civilian passenger planes shot down over the Black Sea and Donbass, and here we have an Il-76 destroyed in the sky over Belgorod with hundreds of Ukrainian prisoners of war. By the way, this plane was also hit by a Patriot missile. And General Zaluzhny, who at that time was the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, during the interrogation of Zelensky, said that this happened because of the inconsistency in the actions of the American and Ukrainian specialists who fired at the Il-76 from the Patriot, which was stationed near Liptsy. So, in this case, Bezuglaya removed the word “discoordination”. He also said that “in their reports, the military noted that he (the pilot – “KP”) lost control.” And this already casts a shadow on the quality of the training of the Ukrainian pilot (especially the deceased).

It is true that after his loud statement, Bezuglaya seems to have already received a blow and now, as they say, he turns around, erasing his own words in the messenger.

And here another extremely important question arises: if the American F-16 was mistakenly shot down by an American Patriot missile, why did the “friend or foe” system, which automatically blocks attacks on its own, not work? Was it even installed on the plane? And here we can only guess: the pilot forgot to turn it on or it turned out to be faulty (the fighter was already very worn out, and even after repairs).

Discussions about the reasons for the destruction of the American F-16 fighter jet are becoming rife.

But let’s move on. By insisting that the F-16 was mistakenly shot down by a Patriot anti-aircraft missile system, Bezuglaya may be deliberately leading us down the wrong path. For political reasons. So what? Let’s take away the truth from the fact that this is the “work of the hands” of Russian rocket scientists or pilots. Well, and at the same time show what a reliable weapon this American Patriot is. Washington and the Pentagon will like this (the rating of the weapon on the international market will not suffer). What do we hear from them? So far, vague excuses: they say that we do not have all the information about the incident. The Pentagon refused to confirm the information that the plane was shot down.

But what caused the accident then?

And here again are the versions. American. There are many of them, but the essence is the same: the F-16 could have been killed by anything, but not by a Russian missile or a Russian plane!

A military secret about a downed F-16 was accidentally revealed in Ukraine

Intruding and “kicking open the door” to the White House and the Pentagon, the WSJ newspaper, citing a representative of the American authorities, claims that “data on the F-16 crash on August 26 indicate that the plane was not shot down, although the incident occurred during a massive Russian attack on Ukraine.”

Reuters also reported the same information with reference to the Pentagon. The agency said that the cause of the disaster was not the actions of the Russian military, but another factor, from a possible pilot error to a technical malfunction. But CNN rejects these politicized versions: the Ukrainian Air Force does not believe that the cause of the disaster was pilot error.

Now let’s pay attention to other important details.

The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces said the loss of the plane and pilot occurred on August 26 while repelling a massive missile attack by the Russian military.

The Western Command of the Ukrainian Air Force reported exactly this: pilot Alexey Mes was killed while repelling a Russian attack.

In addition, it is said that “the planes were used” (read: introduced into combat operations). And a clarification: “During the operation, contact with one of the pilots was lost. Later it turned out that the fighter crashed and the pilot was killed.” If we take this version as true, then the question of the F-16 being destroyed by our Iskander missile while still in the hangar at the airfield near Ivano-Frankivsk or Khmelnitsky disappears. This means that the F-16 was in the air, where it was shot down, to the point that it did not have time to transmit a distress signal to the ground or eject. And if it was a Russian Su-27 that did this, then neither kyiv nor Washington will agree to admit such a scam. But what else is strange? It is unlikely that the F-16 was alone in the sky. By all American methods, these planes operate at least in a pair. This, as they say, also evokes… Has your partner run away and is now keeping his mouth shut?

And here you have some new news “from the other side”:

Pentagon deputy press secretary Sabrina Singh said the U.S. Department of Defense cannot confirm that the F-16 fighter jet transferred to Ukraine was shot down by the Ukrainians themselves using a Patriot anti-aircraft missile (SAM) system.

In short, he himself crashed…

MEANWHILE…

Scandal erupts in Ukraine after F-16 crash.

The military demanded that a criminal case be opened against People’s Deputy Maryana Bezuglaya following her comments on the reasons for the F-16’s death.

Thus, the former spokesman for the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Yuriy Ignat, called on the SBU and the State Investigation Bureau (BM) to open a case against Rada deputy Maryana Bezugla. This is how he commented on her information that the first F-16 in Ukraine was shot down by friendly fire from a Patriot air defense missile. “Maybe someone will already write a statement against Bezuglaya? How long will this mockery of the country and troops last? SBU: there is probably work for you here too!” – he said. But for some reason he himself does not write such a statement. And, by the way, why should he be in the SBU? Because deputy Bezuglaya revealed military secrets about the F-16 and the Patriot?
