… – All this week, Vladimir Putin has been preparing for the next summit, that is, the BRICS summit. In fact, it will be one of the main events on the international agenda.
With this announcement, the Kremlin spokesperson began his briefing for Russian and foreign journalists on Monday, October 14.
Then the press secretary answered the questions of the Komsomolskaya Pravda journalist.
– Dmitry Sergeevich, please tell me, will you somehow add to this name or give this international organization a different name at the BRICS summit? Because BRICS still means a narrow group: its original composition was Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. Then Egypt, Iran, the Arab Emirates, Ethiopia joined in… There are many more candidates.
– The first, called BRICS. This, of course, is an issue that requires a consensual decision by the BRICS member countries. But so far there has been no proposal in this regard and it is still understood that the name should remain unchanged.
– And the second question… Why are the BRICS so feared in the West and why is there pressure on some states?
– Well, it’s probably not that they are afraid of the BRICS, but that the BRICS is a very, very attractive association for several states.
You know that until now in the West there were closed clubs (“seven”) that were always closed even for those countries that had already gained strength. This refers to both China and India.
BRICS is a much more democratic association, offering absolutely equal and mutually respectful interaction and cooperation. And this makes it more attractive, especially in the current situation, when more and more countries are leaning towards the need to build relations in a new way and no longer accept relations based on the dictates of one country in relation to another.
