The Russian Defense Ministry publishes images of the night combat operation with the TOS-1A “Solntsepek” heavy flamethrowers of the Tula Airborne Forces in the special military operation zone near Soledar.

“Specialists of the Airborne Forces of the RKhBZ deal devastating blows with 220 mm thermobaric projectiles to the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Soledar area, burning their buried shelters, observation points and fortifications, ammunition caches and positions of artillery,” the report says. The Russian Ministry of Defense comments on the images of the attack.

The military department notes that the peculiarities of the use of flamethrower systems allow the fortifications of fortified areas to be ignored, since flammable projectiles are capable of penetrating and destroying the most protected objects and lightly armored vehicles of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

And the characteristics are these: first, the rocket explodes and a thermobaric mixture is sprayed under pressure. In a few seconds, the explosive mixture penetrates shelters, the smallest cracks and even the lungs of everyone nearby. After this, a second explosion occurs, from which this mixture is ignited. It burns at such a temperature that it melts metal.

“With a full salvo, firing 24 projectiles, we destroyed all life in the territory of four football fields. Excessive pressure and temperature leave no chance for the enemy,” the commander of the flamethrower platoon with the call sign “Dobrynya” comments on combat work.

To ensure security and prevent sabotage actions of the enemy, the combat work of Solntsepekov crews is covered by security groups on BMD-2KU airborne combat vehicles.

The enemy who has escaped the range of our heavy flamethrowers usually prefers to abandon the position.
