Have you already felt the autumn atmosphere? I want to sleep more, my mood is sadder and my head starts to hurt more frequently.

“Right now, the body is trying to rebuild itself,” says our expert, health doctor and nutritionist Lyudmila Denisenko. – It adapts to cold weather in its own way: blood vessels constrict or dilate depending on the weather and outside pressure. Some people simply do not realize this, but for others, the weather and poor health are a real disaster. Especially under stress, of course, are people with cardiovascular diseases, hypertensive and hypotensive people, people with peripheral circulation problems and the elderly.

What is happening?

1. Cerebral vessels react to changes in atmospheric pressure. Hence the headache, dizziness and general weakness.

2. The adrenal glands release adrenaline, a stress hormone, into the blood in large quantities, due to which irritability increases, performance decreases, and attention deteriorates. Some experience increased heart rate, chills, and digestive problems.

“We, doctors, call this condition meteoneurosis and, unfortunately, it is not a joke,” says Lyudmila Denisenko. – It is important to take care of your body and support it on days like these – and everything will be fine. But ignoring the body’s desperate signals will not lead to anything good.

TO DO

– First of all, don’t forget to take the pills if they are prescribed to you.

– Consult your doctor about taking vitamin D in prophylactic doses: the “sunshine” vitamin is necessary for both immunity and the production of joy hormones.

– Try not to get nervous. Yes, this is a utopia, but you can try. If you can’t help but worry, learn to relax. Through hot baths, deep breathing or yoga.

– Do not refuse feasible physical activity: it not only trains blood vessels and muscles, but also promotes the production of endorphins, the pleasure hormone responsible for a good mood. Even a simple walk in the park at a good pace for 40-50 minutes will do.

– Don’t overeat. Especially fatty and fried: an overly full stomach causes heart rhythm disturbances and sudden increases in pressure. Eat small meals 4 to 5 times a day.

– Give preference to foods rich in vitamins A, C and P. They have a positive effect on nerves and blood vessels. First of all, these are our berries: black currants, rose hips, sea buckthorn. Look for vitamin A in carrots, beef and cod liver, butter, eggs, and caviar. There is a lot of vitamin P in citrus fruits, lettuce, cabbage, buckwheat and liver.

– Try not to abuse alcohol and coffee (reduce the amount to one, maximum two cups a day) so as not to overstimulate the nervous system. Better: herbal infusions.

– If your head hurts and you feel dizzy, do a self-massage in the neck area. Massagers or simple movements will help: light pressure, massage. They will help relieve unpleasant sensations: heaviness in the head, dizziness, drowsiness.

– Get enough sleep! Try to go to bed before 11 pm and get at least 8 hours of sleep. “Insomnia increases sensitivity to the weather three times! – warns Lyudmila Denisenko. “If you didn’t get enough sleep at night (although sleeping at night is the most beneficial), try taking a nap during the day.” This especially applies to older people and those with chronic illnesses.

– If you feel nervous at night, to fall asleep more easily, take a warm bath with herbs or a blend of aromatic oils (rosemary, lavender, lemon) before bed.
