Expert explains which series and actors are missing for Russian viewers – Rossiyskaya Gazeta

In his opinion, all TV series used to have some kind of formulaic, even somewhat stereotypical scenarios, but now they are trying to move away from this. More original stories appear, standard heroes are gone, new actors and typical characters appear.

“And of course, as I am not only a viewer but also a marketer, I cannot help but say that this opens up new opportunities for viewer interaction and brand integration, for example using artificial intelligence,” the expert notes.

Nowadays, films of a fairly high level are being made for the big screen. “Both in terms of plots and in terms of the level of production, this does not always correspond to the level of acting of the actors, but I clearly distinguish where the actor acts for the commercial component and where he acts really for the sake of creativity and self-expression,” says Alekseev.

At the same time, he believes that there is now a clear lack of children’s and family content, specifically original content, and not imitations of Western franchises. “We have a rather rich heritage and excellent opportunities for its film adaptation: poems by Sergei Mikhalkov, Korney Chukovsky, Russian folk tales, etc. In my opinion, if this is used as a basis for the same series and cartoons, it can be very interesting. The first steps in this direction are already seen both in animation and in large franchises, for example “The Last Hero”, but it seems to me that there could be much more content of this kind,” says Alekseev.

But we need to get rid of despondency and despair on the screens, he adds. “There is a lot of boredom without additional stimulation in the form of such content. I want more positive things, films and TV series that recharge you with energy and make you think not about how transient and sad everything is, but about how transient and sad it is. That everything can be overcome and that there is sunshine and a new day ahead,” Andrei Alekseev is sure.

And, of course, we need more patriotic content based on the history of our country. “It’s sad that at some point we stopped paying much attention to this, and it seems that with each new generation we know less and less about Russia and its great past and present,” the expert notes.

In his opinion, auteur cinema should be developed, but it is necessary to work seriously on this format.

Now it is too confusing and quite difficult to attribute it to something separate. “In commercial series, genre techniques of the so-called auteur cinema are often found,” Alekseev adds. At the same time, he is sure that many initially unsuccessful commercial film projects will only be saved thanks to his performances.

“Today, there are not enough actors on our screens who are not only capable of expressing a memorized text in front of the camera and showing the emotions they are capable of, but also those who are capable of becoming the embodiment of the character they play and living each one of them, breathing so that the audience on the other side of the screen sees it and believes it,” added the expert.

Among the actors who manage to play roles most harmoniously and convey the emotions of their characters, and who are also most favorably disposed to the audience, we can name Vladimir Mashkov, Irina Pegova, Oleg Menshikov, Olga Budina, Anton Makarsky, Konstantin Khabensky, Sergei Bezrukov, Svetlana Khodchenkova and others.
