A plaque commemorating the writer, journalist and film playwright Yulian Semenov, author of the cult works “Seventeen Moments of Spring”, “Petrovka, 38”, “The Great Whirlwind”, “Confrontation” was solemnly unveiled in Moscow.

The board was placed on the facade of the legendary “Embankment House” (2 Serafimovicha Street), where Semenov lived from 1985 to 1993, TASS reports. The author of the bas-relief made of gray granite was the sculptor Sergei Nikitin. He explained that he tried to convey the image of Semenov as an energetic, determined and brave person. In the sculptural portrait, the writer leans on a stack of books with the titles of his works.
The Embankment House had many famous residents. Over the years Lavrenty Beria, Nikita Khrushchev, Joseph Stalin’s children Svetlana and Vasily, poet Demyan Bedny and aircraft designer Artem Mikoyan lived here. There are currently about three dozen commemorative plaques on the façade. Semenov found a place right next to Mikoyan.
The inauguration was attended by family, friends and colleagues of the writer, fans of his work. In recent years, interest in Semenov’s works has been growing. His books are being republished, studies on his work are being published. After all, it was Semyonov who gave us the unforgettable image of Stirlitz, the most famous Soviet intelligence officer.
