In the teaser for Maximilian Davis’ spring-summer show, we saw pointy shoes with coveted Ferragamo on the soles, and in the laconic space where the show took place today, the walls were decorated with heavy theatrical curtains.
Davis really went for the ballet, but she did so very carefully: She diluted the ballerinas’ relaxed-cut training uniform (lace-up tops and bodysuits, plus contrasting leggings) with low-rise trench coats, transformable jackets (the removable-hem set things in motion), and silk parachute dresses with ribbons around the neck and the same parachutes, but in the form of suede parkas.
There were also fitted dresses and coats, all made of perforated leather in shades of hot chocolate and Maximilian red. About him, by the way. It seems that Davis decided to mute the entire palette, making dusty and earthy tones central. And yet, he remained true to himself. Although I reduced the dose of love for bright colors, we noticed several images in ultramarine and in the already mentioned red. The models are not wearing slippers or pointe shoes, but pointed ballet flats and extreme stilettos with ribbons along the instep. The necklines of the dresses and the collars of the jackets are cut asymmetrically: the lines are soft and create wavy shapes. Davis achieved a variety of textures with the help of the seemingly loose hem of the shorts – in fact, the brand’s outfit finished with feathers, which later appeared on boats and bags. Including the headliner of the current season and, we are sure, the next one – the Hug model.
