An investigation is ongoing. According to the press release, Finnish border guards reported the incident to their colleagues in the Suojärvi region of the Republic of Karelia in Russia.
It should be recalled that the border between Finland and Russia is currently closed by decision of Helsinki. As the head of the country’s Ministry of the Interior, Marie Rantanen, recently stated, its opening depends on changes in the security situation, which is constantly being assessed.
