The night before, on the highway between Norilsk and Alykel airport, a UAZ entered the oncoming lane and collided with a Scania truck. The driver and four passengers of the first vehicle suffered fatal injuries; four more, including the driver of the heavy truck, were taken to hospital.
“A criminal case will be initiated under Article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (violation of traffic rules),” the regional police headquarters said.
According to the prosecution, the UAZ driver was repeatedly brought to court for disregarding traffic regulations, in particular the speed limit.
