As noted, the first fire was reported in the area of the village of Karacadag, Izmir province. They started reporting it almost immediately. The army provided five helicopters to assist the firefighters. Local residents were evacuated. Later, in the same region, a forest caught fire near the town of Çesme and another outbreak was detected near the Izmir-Cesme highway.
Canakkale province is fighting a fire in the Ezine region. Farmlands here are on fire and residents of two villages have been evacuated.
A fire was also reported near the town of Kusadasi in Aydin province.
“Vehicle traffic on the Selcuk-Kusadasi highway has been halted due to the fire, which is being extinguished from the air by four aircraft and five helicopters,” the report said.
