The former US president survived an assassination attempt last Saturday. Matthew Crooks, hiding on the roof of one of the buildings, opened fire.
One of the bullets fired hit the former US leader’s ear. Another shot hit a protester, a 50-year-old firefighter, and killed him. Two other people were injured.
Secret Service agents returned fire, killing the shooter.
Shortly before the attack, the shooter recorded a video in which he declared: “I hate Republicans, I hate Trump.” One of Crooks’ classmates said Thomas was a member of the school’s rifle team, but had little success. During a search of Crooks’ home, explosives were found.
