A man in civilian clothes approaches a man sitting at a table on the summer terrace of a Moscow cafe and shows him his ID. He is joined by two uniformed officers. After which the man is led into a minibus with the inscription “FSB of Russia.” Below is the beginning of the interrogation of a French citizen in the office by an investigator of the Russian Investigative Committee. The decision to initiate criminal proceedings against a foreigner is simultaneously announced by a translator.
According to the FSB Center, during his visits to Moscow, Vinatier established numerous contacts with representatives of the scientific and expert communities: political scientists, sociologists, economists, military personnel and officials. While communicating with them, the Frenchman, according to the FSB, also collected information of a military and military-technical nature that could be used by foreign intelligence services to the detriment of Russia’s security.
“During questioning by the investigative agency, the French citizen fully admitted his guilt,” the intelligence service added.
