The famous local historian and collector of Kuban, Olga Kuznetsova, appealed to the Department for State Protection of Cultural Heritage Objects of the Krasnodar Territory with a request to assign protected status to monuments located on the territory of the Chaika porcelain and faience factory, which does not operate in Krasnodar.

According to him, the complex, which includes administrative and industrial buildings and monumental artistic structures, should be included in the unified state register of cultural heritage objects of the peoples of the Russian Federation.

We are talking about the factory administration building and a canteen, the facade of which is covered with large ornamental ceramic friezes in folk style, based on folk cross-stitch, depicting a samovar, a vase with flowers and a teapot with a cup. A unique material was used in their creation – bomza (a stand for firing or drying ceramic products, made of the same mass as the product being fired), which was first used at the Krasnodar plant. Also mentioned is a unique material in circulation – mosaic panel (emblem) of FFZ made of porcelain stoneware, a stele “History of the Soviet Union” and three ceramic panels: “Peace – Labor – Creation”, “Sport” and still lifes.

“All the monuments were designed by a creative team of artists of the Chaika Military Academy in 1962. The creative team that created the complex included artists with the titles of People’s and Honored Artists of the USSR, RSFSR and Kuban,” the appeal says. “The materials used in the creation of the objects were also manufactured at the plant using unique, often patented technologies. Some of the technologies and manufacturing methods have copyright certificates. This fact gives additional significance to the objects as part of the cultural heritage.”

Last week it became known that on the territory of the idle plant (production was moved to the Belorechensky district) they plan to build a water sports complex with an indoor water park, which will be a continuation of one of the shopping and entertainment centers of Krasnodar.

At the same time, the SBS Megamall shopping centre reported that the cultural heritage sites located on the territory of the former Chaika plant (in particular, they include the place where the first products of the Chaika plant were produced in 1960, and several mosaic panels that decorated the facade of the enterprise) will be preserved. It is planned to move the frescoes to the park area and restore them. The TV and Radio Company reported that the work on their preservation is being carried out with the participation of scientists and art historians from the Krasnodar region.
