Alexander Vasilyevich Maslyakov was the permanent host and presenter of KVN from 1964 to 2022. And although no one officially confirmed his dismissal from the affairs of the “merry and resourceful”, and Maslyakov Sr. continued to occupy all his posts, behind the scenes of the project they knew that the master was sick. According to the official version, Alexander Vasilyevich “controlled all the processes” – he was simply not present at the filming of the games, since they were most often recorded during periods when influenza, Covid, ARVI, etc. In reality, Alexander Aleksandrovich Maslyakov Jr. (the only son of Maslyakov Sr. and his right hand in work for many years) is the main producer of AMIK, he manages all the processes, KVN is in his reliable and experienced hands. Maslyakov Jr. constantly emphasized: Alexander Vasilyevich in KVN has his finger on the pulse and, if he wants, he will return at any time. The family did not want to talk about Maslyakov Sr.’s illness. Alexander Vasilievich Maslyakov died on September 8, 2024.

Behind the scenes of the project, the KP.RU website said: “At first, everyone thought that Alexander Vasilyevich, after suffering from Covid on February 22, simply decided to take care of his health. They said that doctors do not recommend that he go where there are a lot of people – there is a risk of getting sick again, after all, he is of a decent age and it is better to avoid such risks. And in the summer he does not go to watch film matches, because there are also a lot of people on trains and planes – he is at the dacha with his family. And already in 1923 they began to say that Alexander Vasilyevich was sick and periodically was in the hospital. It became clear why he should never get sick. And in the spring he got worse. He died in the hospital…” Relatives and colleagues do not voice the diagnosis, but according to unofficial data: Maslyakov was diagnosed with a malignant neoplasm in the lung and underwent treatment in a Moscow hospital. The TV presenter was diagnosed with cancer when he fell ill with Covid in February 2022; He was examined and a tumor was discovered. The situation was serious; in late 2023 and spring 2024, Maslyakov’s health deteriorated significantly.
Alexander Vasilyevich had already set his sights on his successor as a KVN presenter before his illness and approved him for a permanent position starting this year. Since 2022, the presenter’s place on the stand has been successively occupied by different stars – KVN graduates. Since the beginning of 2024, Mitya Khrustalev has been hosting all matches of the KVN Major League. The next matches will be held in October: two semi-finals: “We continue KVN…”
