Chechnya’s leader Ramzan Kadyrov complained that the Cybertruck electric car he had been given, in which he had installed a machine gun, was remotely disabled. The politician wrote about this on Telegram. The futuristic pickup truck is produced by Elon Musk’s Tesla company: Kadyrov claims that the car was disabled on the instructions of the American billionaire. This is another touch on the alarming picture called “We have become dependent on dangerous technologies.”

According to Kadyrov, Musk has sent two more “Cybertrucks” to the Northern Military District (in Russia, the price of such vehicles starts at 22 million rubles), and the Western team is coping well with the assigned tasks “against its own Western ukronatists.”

Ksenia Plotnikova, an information security specialist at the Federal Public Institution “TsOKR”, told Komsomolskaya Pravda that Musk could turn off the car remotely, regardless of where he was.

“Tesla is literally packed with electronics: it is equipped with an autopilot, supports gesture control and other innovative technologies,” the IT expert noted. – Every year, the machines are equipped with increasingly powerful integrated intelligent systems that can, for example, connect to the manufacturer’s servers and download firmware updates.

In 2020, Tesla remotely disabled Autopilot on a used Model S after an update. Company representatives then claimed that the car’s next owner, who bought it from a third-party dealer, allegedly did not pay for these features and was unable to use them.

The company’s developers have the right to disable fast charging on any car that, in their opinion, becomes unsafe due to some kind of malfunction. And if the driver tries to bypass the restriction and force the system to start, Tesla representatives promise to go to court.

Let us also recall the story of the scandalous BMW subscription, which the company tried to impose on its customers in 2022. Representatives of the German concern decided to pay for heated steering wheels, seats and recording with built-in DVR cameras. Less than a year later, the dubious subscription service was canceled.

In Russia, car rental companies and taxi companies can easily block a car. All thanks to the ERA-GLONASS system, the installation of which has been mandatory since 2017. A special switching device is connected to it, which allows you to remotely turn off the engine.
