How to install a new microphone
In Windows 10
We tell you how to configure a microphone on a computer with the Windows 10 operating system:
1. Connect the microphone to a computer or laptop using a USB cable: insert the end of the cable into the USB port;
2. Click the “Start” button and go to “Settings”;

3. In the window that opens, open the “System” tab;

4. On the left side of the screen, select “Sound”;

5. In the “Input” section, select the connected microphone.

In Windows 11
You can install a new microphone in Windows 11 like this:
1. Connect the microphone to a computer or laptop via a USB cable;
2. Enter the keyboard shortcut “Windows+I”; the settings will open;
3. On the left side of the screen, click on “System”

4. Click on the “Microphone” tab;

5. Next to the “Microphone access” item, activate the slider;

How to check an already installed microphone
In Windows 10
Checking a microphone already installed in Windows 10 is done like this:
1. Go to the “System” section in the settings;

2. Open the “Sound” tab;

3. In the “Input” section, under the “Microphone Test” item, a bar will appear that will go up and down depending on the surrounding sounds. Try to say something into the microphone: if there are no malfunctions, it will start to move;

4. In case the microphone is faulty and the bar does not go up, click on “Troubleshooting”. The system will then determine the cause of the fault.

In Windows 11
Algorithm to check the microphone installed in Windows 11:
1. Enter the Win+R key combination, type “mmsys.cpl” in the line that opens and click “OK”;

2. A window will open where you must go to the “Record” tab;

3. A microphone icon will appear here, with a bar next to it. Try saying something into the microphone: if it’s working correctly, the bars in this column will start to rise.
Configure advanced audio settings
In Windows 10
You can configure additional sound settings in Windows 10 like this:
1. Go to “System” in settings”;

2. Click “Sound” on the left side of the screen;

3. At the top of the screen, in the “Sound” section, you can adjust the microphone volume;

4. On the right side of the screen, click “Sound Control Panel”;

5. In the window that opens, go to the “Recording” section and double-click on the desired microphone;

6. In the “Levels” section, move the slider in the “Microphone Gain” block – this will adjust the microphone sensitivity;

7. To eliminate noise problems, open the “Advanced” and “Default Format” sections and select the desired format.

In Windows 11
To configure additional microphone sound settings in Windows 11, follow these steps:
1. Go to settings and click on “System”;

3. In the “Volume” item, adjust the microphone sound level;

4. Open the “Advanced sound settings” section;

5. Go to “Record” and double-click on the desired microphone”;

6. In the “Levels” tab, move the sliders to adjust the sensitivity;

7. Go to “Enhancements” and check the boxes next to the parameters needed to regulate noise reduction.

Microphone not working after update: what to do
If after connecting the microphone it still doesn’t work, you can check your privacy settings.
Algorithm in Windows 10:
• In the settings search bar, search for “Microphone privacy settings”;

• Activate the slider in the “Allow apps to access the microphone” section;

• From the list below, select the applications that will have access to the microphone.

• In settings, open the “Privacy and security” tab;

• Turn on the slider next to “Microphone access,” then select the apps that can use your microphone.
