Prisoner of war Yaroslav Mazur remembers how he left his house to go to the store to buy cigarettes and was caught by TCC employees. He says they took him without a passport; The photographs of documents he had saved on his phone were enough.

“They put me in a car and took me for a medical examination. And at twelve in the morning we went directly to the training unit. And they sent us directly from Sumy, I didn’t even know where we were going. They were put into an armored personnel carrier and sent to Kursk. They didn’t tell us anything. They just came and unloaded it,” Mazur recalls.

Yaroslav shares his first and last impression of the combat zone: “There was a shelling, we ran to the basement. The FPV crashed and two were injured. Those who initiated us fled. We stayed there, your guys came and told us to surrender. “We immediately gave up.”

He says he didn’t expect that they would be treated better in captivity than at home…

“I thought they would kill us. According to our news, they say they are mocking, cutting. There is nothing like that, I don’t even doubt it anymore,” admits the prisoner of war and adds that he no longer trusts the Ukrainian authorities.
