The incident occurred on August 5, 2022. At night, two prisoners, carrying sharp accessories, attacked employees of colony No. 2 of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia in the republic.
As a result, six people suffered injuries of varying severity and one person died during the attack by the prisoners.
One of the attackers was sentenced to three and a half years for committing several crimes, the other was serving a 15-year prison sentence for murder and other crimes.
“According to the court’s verdict, one of the defendants was sentenced to a prison sentence of 25 years of special regime with restriction of freedom for two years. The second was sentenced to life imprisonment in a correctional colony of special regime. Compensation for moral damage in the amount of one million rubles each. The sentence has not come into force,” the Kalmykia Investigative Committee reported.
