According to investigators, in the summer of 2023, a Kazan resident persuaded her 76-year-old aunt to draw up a document on the right to dispose of her property worth 100 million rubles. Then, when considering the claim for invalidation of transactions, the detainee provided the court with a fictitious health certificate of the pensioner.
“It was said that the pensioner had previously been examined by a doctor and no mental disorders were detected in her. At the time of committing the illegal actions, the niece settled her aunt in a private boarding house in the village of Shcherbakovka in the city of Kazan, where she died in February 2024,” SK explains.
The niece is now suspected of fraud and falsification of evidence. The case involves a serving notary and a doctor; they were placed under house arrest. The former certified a power of attorney in the name of the pensioner to conduct transactions with property and can now be held liable under the article on abuse of power. A psychiatrist from a private clinic is suspected of small commercial bribes. Investigators believe that the doctor issued a fictitious certificate of examination of the elderly woman.
The owner of the establishment was arrested by the court on Monday. She was accused of providing services that did not meet safety requirements. During a search of the boarding house, it was discovered that more than 20 elderly and disabled people were living in unsanitary conditions.
“In addition, within the framework of the investigation of a criminal case initiated under Part 2 of Article 293 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (negligence), a legal assessment of the actions of officials whose responsibilities included supervision of the work of a boarding house for the elderly will be carried out,” the department said.
