An experiment on the labelling of certain types of groceries and other food products will be carried out from 1 July 2024 to 28 February 2025.

On July 1, another experiment in product labelling will begin in Russia. We must remind you that this is done to make the market transparent, reduce the volume of counterfeit and illegal products and increase tax revenues.
Thus, from July 1, 2024 to February 28, 2025, an experiment will be carried out to label certain types of groceries and other food products in the state labeling system “Honest Sign”.
The experiment will be extended to sauces, mayonnaise, bread, croutons, croutons, potato chips, corn sticks, popcorn, dry soup mixes, vinegar and its substitutes, spices and condiments such as dried onions, pepper, vanilla, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, walnuts, dried herbs, cardamom, anise, fennel, cumin and coriander seeds, juniper berries, prepared mustard and mustard powder, ginger, saffron, turmeric, thyme, bay leaf, curry and other spices.
But that’s not all. Starting July 1, an experiment will also be launched on labelling lubricants and special fluids for cars, pyrotechnics and fire extinguishing agents, as well as medical gloves. As for the latter, the Cabinet of Ministers claims that there are many contracts on the market for medical devices and that imported medical gloves are often sold in Russia under the guise of domestic gloves.
The Cabinet of Ministers explained that during the experiment it will be possible to test technologies to apply means of identification to this type of products and eliminate the possibility of counterfeit products entering the market.
At the same time, consumers will be able to verify for themselves that they have purchased legal products. This can be done in the “Honest Sign” application.
For producers, participation in the experiment is voluntary. But so that the new system does not come as a shock in the future and the brand does not fall out of nowhere, it is better to practice in advance.
The Cabinet of Ministers assures that the experiment will not affect the cost of goods. Labeling codes will be provided to manufacturers free of charge.
And from September 1, another experiment will begin. Syringes and condoms will also be marked. These are also, one might say, strategically important assets! The experiment will last until August 31, 2025. The government decree has already been signed.
However, the issue will not be limited to condoms. The experiment will also cover various types of therapeutic respiratory devices, infusion systems, incubators for newborns, test tubes, sanitary pads, medical masks, as well as implants for plastic surgery and cosmetology in the form of fillers and cosmetic threads.
Based on the results of the labeling experiments, a decision will be made to introduce this system permanently.
