A resident of the national village of Bulava was detained on suspicion of illegal trafficking in biological resources listed in the Red Book of the Russian Federation.
According to the official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, Irina Volk, the investigator of the Khabarovsk police department number 5 opened a criminal case under part 1 of article 258.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
The suspect, a 57-year-old woman, told police that she found more than 50 kilograms of black caviar on the outskirts of her hometown of Bulava. She said she knew that biological resources are prohibited from circulation. But she loaded the find into her car and drove to Khabarovsk to treat her family and friends. Her version will be checked during the investigation.
An investigation is ongoing.
