On the air of Komsomolskaya Pravda radio station (97.2 FM), Alpha special forces veteran, reserve lieutenant colonel Andrei Popov, analyzed the actions of the American police and Secret Service during the incident with Trump.
– I think that the special services that secured the holding of this rally completely failed. First, they had to go around all the places from where potential criminals could shoot. There were no pairs of snipers to keep these places under constant surveillance.
A witness alerted the police that he saw a man climbing onto the roof with a rifle, but there was no appropriate reaction. With us, if you approach an employee in a cordon with such information, it will be accepted and verified immediately. If necessary, they place bulletproof glass around the protected person or even ask him to refuse to hold the event. In the case of Trump, as we have seen, nothing of the sort was done.
Moreover, immediately after the shots were fired, Secret Service agents and people with machine guns came running. But they stayed near the podium, without even having their weapons ready. In such cases, the protected person is dragged away from the scene of the incident without speaking, as if he were a sack. Trump hovered among the security guards for about twenty seconds, shouting something and shaking his fist. What if these shots were a distraction or there was another criminal waiting in the wings?
And finally, the greatest aerobatic feat is when the attacker is captured alive. In this case, he was destroyed and the ends are in the water. It remains to be seen under what circumstances this happened.
