The company’s director made this statement during the forum on road initiatives “Innovative technologies and intelligent transport systems in road construction”, which is being held in the federal territory of Sirius from 11 to 13 September.
Petushenko explained this decision by saying that the state-owned company, due to insufficient funding, is forced to raise money from the market to cover its obligations.
He clarified that all the roads they build are toll roads, since the larger projects use funds from the National Welfare Fund, and this is reimbursable money, and the concessionaires invest it in the projects.
As RG previously reported, the project for the construction of the Dzhubga-Sochi highway began to undergo state examination this summer. This route is the main route connecting Sochi with other regions of Russia.
It will be fast and will help reduce travel time by several hours. The road will have four lanes and almost no traffic lights. Its total length will be 171 kilometers and its construction will cost approximately 1.5 trillion rubles.
