It was initially reported that the shooter, identified as Mark Violets, was arrested on the spot. Before committing the crime, the attacker posted a video on YouTube assuring the public that “justice will prevail.” However, the photo attached to the video was not of Mark Violets, but of Marco Violi, taken from his social media. The Italian’s photo was broadcast on television, during which the world was informed that the shooter had been eliminated. He was later given another name: Thomas Matthew Crookes. However, this did not stop the spread of fake news.
“I categorically deny my involvement in this incident. I was woken up at 2 a.m. by numerous messages on social networks,” Violi wrote indignantly on Instagram (the owner, the Meta company, is recognized as extremist in Russia).
The journalist suspects that the culprits behind the leak of his photos are the owners of fake accounts, who have been stalking him for some time, blatantly interfering in his personal space.
After suffering stress, Marco Violi announced his intention to sue publications that publish unverified information.
