The news about the upcoming book “Cool” by one of the most mysterious authors of our time, Viktor Pelevin, did not leave us unattended. We asked the book critic BURO. Anna Popova collected everything that is known today about the new novel: she got seven interesting facts.
Victor Pelevin is the most mysterious figure in modern Russian literature. For many years he has not gone out into the world, does not attend literary events, and does not give interviews, which gives rise to many rumors and conspiracy theories: they say that novels under Pelevin’s name have long been written by a group of writers led by artificial intelligence, and Victor himself lives in Tibet or Thailand and has renounced everything earthly.
Of course, every novel by Victor Pelevin remains a secret for literary critics and bloggers until the very day of its publication: some publish scant information, others publicly assure that they do not play these games, that they are not waiting for the book and will not buy it. Then, however, it turns out that they read the novel on the first day, but “Pelevin did not say anything new.” What is known about the new product today?

The release time is known to the minute: on October 3 at 20:24, “Cool” will appear in bookstores, in the Yandex Plus electronic library, on Bookmate and in the digital service of e-books and audiobooks “Liters” in the format of a single purchase. The novel is set in the Transhumanism Inc. universe, but will be a standalone story, so if you haven’t read Journey to Eleusis, Transhumanism Inc., and “KGBT+” – it’s not a big deal.
The book will be dedicated to the fem-blatnyak – decide for yourself what the combination means. The blurb on the cover describes the plot as follows: “This is the third century of the Green Age. The Open Brain implant correction made women the dominant gender and the balance of power in the criminal hierarchy changed. The fem-blatnyak, ruthless chicken-sharpeners, rose to the top. The book, like previous novels set in the Transhumanism Inc. universe, will feature Markus Sorgenfrey, Transhumanism Inc.’s top operative. “The tasks assigned to him by Admiral Bishop Lomas are so delicate that his memory fades afterward. He would not have delved into the prison disputes if it were not for the terrible danger looming over the planet,” the summary says.
