In the spring-summer collection, Lucy and Luke Meyer continue to hone their skills in creating elegant minimalism. Tassel earrings are chosen for jackets, fastened with almost military belts, making a clear nod to the East; the lapels of jackets (three-piece suits were the leaders here) are decorated with a spectacular brooch (fringe can be seen under the cuffs, and trouser legs slightly delve into “predatory” territory). Skirt and shirt sets in colors reminiscent of batik, and two-tone blouses with collars reminiscent of kimonos. Meiers suggests wearing knitted minis with over-the-knee boots, but preferably in a lemon shade (which, by the way, was actively worn in recent weeks in New York), and pairing dresses just above the knee with matching trousers.
We saw geometric bags, generously inlaid hangers for dresses, leather outfits, laconic dresses (also reminiscent of a kimono) embroidered with flowers (they also adorned the catwalk) and oversized T-shirts, beloved by designers, which look especially good on girls.
Several sets and individual elements featured photographs by Canadian photographer Greg Girard, whose work explores the social and physical transformations in Asia’s largest cities over the past ten years.
The collection, in the words of the Meiers, “expresses an innocent desire to be beautiful and attractive and to seek pleasure.”
